Damals im Auftrags der Bayerischen Wasserkraft AG (BAWAG) als 35mm Kinofilm gedreht, zeigt der Film in eindrucksvollen Bildern der damaligen Zeit, die Meisterleistung Deutscher Ingenieurskunst von der Planung bis zur Einweihung des Lechspeichers 1954. Das „Hosenrohr“, der größte Druckstollen und Kaplanturbinen bei einer Fallhöhe von 34 Meter, waren alles Superlativen der damaligen Zeit die beim Bau des Kraftwerks realisiert wurden. Über 1500 Arbeiter waren auf der damals grössten Baustelle im Nachkriegs Deutschland im Einsatz Das vom heutigen Kraftwerksbetreiber UNIPER zur Verfügung gestellte Archivmaterial wurde von den Machern des Forggenseefilms Thomas Häring und Hubert Jäger in voller Länge digitalisiert und restauriert, so kehrt die original Dokumentation der BAWAG nach Jahrzehnten ins Kino zurück.
